Guess what, Guess what??

I am doing some research on the upcoming Chinese New Year, and I'm so excited because I was also born in the Year of the Pig!! Woo hoo! (Between January 27, 1971 and February 14, 1972)

Ok, I know it might sound a bit strange to be excited about this (especially to those not so heavily involved in the Chinese adoption community or those that just haven't spent a lot of time studying the true Chinese calendar, not just the one on the placements in our favorite Chinese restaurants ;) , but I feel like our daughter(or daughters) will be born this year, too. She just must! :-) So, you know there is much more to come on this Year of the Pig revelation. I have the time right now, and with time comes exploring!!

In tribute, I think I will do a bloggy countdown to the New Year (the Chinese New Year is February 18, 2007), or I will celebrate like they do in China - for 15 days beginning on the 18th, and end the celebration with our own little Lantern Festival. I'll do something each day..a little fact, or something, don't know yet. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Our Love of Chinese Food

I really do cook, I promise. I know, no more excuses, but we worked on this presentation Brad needed to have completed for work, so we ordered from China Garden. Love that place. This time, it was my fortune that brought insight to "the wait". Of course, we know these things, but it's still pretty cool to crack the yummy cookie, and read your fortune. I think this one speaks for itself.

Now, the less obvious is the group of tiny little lucky numbers. Does the first number ring a bell? You may not remember, but the 27th is our log-in day!! 10-27-06!! Daddy had to see it to believe it ;-) Lets see, now how could I make the 15, 34,16,28, and 49 work for us...mmm.. I was 15 when I was let loose on the road in a real, moving, automobile (with supervision of course). I am currently 34 years of age. Brad was 16 when his parents gave him his favorite jeep. It wasn't until I was 28 that I started figuring out what "I" wanted for me, instead of what everyone else wanted for me. I'll possibly be 49 when our darling daughter starts to like boys. AARRGGHHHH. I can't even imagine it! Eeeks.

DTC Milestone

We also received the DTC email today from our adoption agency!!!

Here’s the news you’ve long been waiting for—your dossier was sent to China today (10/5/2006)!

Here’s what to expect for the next month:

The CCAA will receive your dossier in approximately 3-5 days. Our China Department will contact you by email once your dossier has been received by our representatives in China and hand-delivered to the CCAA.

The CCAA usually logs in dossiers within 4 weeks of their receipt. This Log-In Date is called your LID, the date that you may “count down” to your referral. As the CCAA is the ultimate authority in logging in your dossier, we are unable to estimate your LID. The CCAA should notify us of your LID within the next 8 weeks. We will e-mail you as soon as we have confirmation of your LID and will then give you instructions on how to download your LID Packet. Your LID will also be posted on your personal online Parent Access Network (PAN) page of the CCAI website, www.chinesechildren.org, the instant we are notified of it.
