A Touch of Love

You were six months old and full of fun,
With a blink of my eye, you suddenly were one.
There were so many things we were going to do,
But I turned my head and you turned two.
At two you were very dependent on me,
But independence took over when you turned three.
Your third birthday, another year I tried to ignore,
But when I lit the candles there weren't three, but four.
Four was the year that you really strived,
Why look at you now, you are already five.
Now you are ready for books and rules,
This is the year that you go to school.
The big day came; you were anxious to go,
We walked to the bus, going oh so slow.
As you climbed aboard and waved good bye,
I felt a lump in my throat and tears stung my eyes.
Times go so fast, its hard to believe
That just yesterday you were home here with me.
And tomorrow when the bus brings you home,
And you jump to the ground,
You'll be wearing your cap and graduation gown.
So I'm holding to these moments as hard as I can,
Because the next time I look, I'll be seeing a grown man.

Because others can't, and we can...

one of our charities this year will be for the Shaohannah's Hope foundation, through the Stevey Joy Club. This foundation has a wonderful, inspiring history, and we will be providing direct assistance to other families who feel the calling to adopt, but need assistance financially. Of course, this is in honor of our daughter, who will hopefully be born very soon, our sweet Gracie.

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, or what sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove. But the world may be a little different place because I was important in the life of a child." -Unknown

My Daily Prayer for 2007

A Waiting Mother's Prayer:

Oh my Father, I ask that you would be with my daughter tonight. If she is unborn, give her needed physical nourishment. If she is born, Father, give her loving hands that will nurture and care for her. Bless my daughter's birth mother and help her through her emotional difficulties. Father, bless the nannies and the orphanage officials at my child's orphanage. May they know the love of Jesus, so that His love will tranform lives in that place. I pray that the you will provide the orphanage with sufficient, healthy food for my daughter and the other children; that you will provide needed medical care, and that you will provide all that is needed to properly care for the children. Thank you God, for your goodness to me. Father, please hasten the day that I hold her, and until I do, I ask that you will hold her for me.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

A Mother's Love

( I found this poem on a fellow-blogger's website )
http://chinaprincess.blogspot.com/

A Mother's Love

She left you one morning
She had no choice
In a country of millions
She had just one voice

The law made it clear
One child would do
To obey it would mean
No hope for you

As she laid you down
Her eyes became blurried
On saying goodbye
Said don't you worry

Another will come
To take my place
A mother will come
From a different race

She'll hold you and love you
As if you're her own
She'll take you away
To a brand new home

She then ran away
Her heart broke in two
Don't ever forget
Of my love for you

Not my flesh

Not my flesh,
nor bone of my bone,
But still miraculously
My own,
Never forget for a
single minute:
You did not grow
under my heart,
but in it.

I Chose You, Because...

...God chose you for us.
...you complete us.
...we have so much love to give, and you will love us, too.
...I want to see you run to your Daddy, and his face will light up.
...I want to shower you with kisses and lots of hugs.
...I know growing up "different" is hard if you don't have someone to help you understand and I hope that sharing my experiences will benefit you.
...we want to watch you grow to love someone else as much as we've loved you.
...you've been a part of the plan for so long, and you are perfect for us.
...we'll ride the carousel together and laugh together.
...you'll love to get piggy back rides from your Daddy.
...the sound of your little feet running towards our room in the mornings makes us smile.

...to be continued
